Description

This is a Tempera on wood painting of an Angel in the style of orthodox icons. Angels are part of all cultures and traditions, as helpers, protectors and guiding light to a human being. And many people have seen and described them, many artists over the centuries have depicted them. This picture comes near to how they can be perceived. They don´t have strong colors, they have a body of light. We are not used to see light bodies, so it may be a little unusual for us.
As a small child I used to be afraid in the dark. One night I saw an angel of light floating over my bed, similar to this one, radiating light. I called my mother and tried to show it to her, but she couldn´t see him. Anyway - she said: "This is your protecting angel, he is always with you!" Since then I had no more fear.
